Before going off
Thursday, October 30, 2008
managed to upload one pic after trying and refreshing lots of time. this is before we go for our tour, on the way to the transportation center.
we reached early, i think like 45 mins, so we took some photos. but i onli managed to upload one random pic:(

deepavali:
went cycling with church ppl and sab. borrowed caleb's bike and sab used wayne's bike. can't even remember when i last cycled. so so long since the last time, maybe a year or 2? when we were young we always go cycling @ ubi park. cycle, play catching, swing, basketball..... now i don know wat happen lar, but at least i still got go play badminton, not sedentary lifestyle.
in the evening all 3 of us went to lisi's house. suppose to go in the noon but then it started raining, so got to wait for the rain to stop and also we got wet and dirty so got to go home and bath b4 gg over.
we had dinner together and then we make desert at her house!!! she is studying culinary and she is having attachment at a hotel restaurant. her restaurant is top 60 in the world! she taught us molten chocolate cake. the outside is a chocolate cake and the inside is melted chocolate. we also bought ice cream so is molten chocolate cake with ice cream. damn nice:) we sort of know how to make but don know if will be sucessful ma. we shall try baking it next time:)

attachment:
now we are in kkh A&E:) tmr is our last day, so fast! shall blog abt it after tmr.

don know why cannot upload photos:(
ARGH!!!
Operating Theater KKH
ok i have not updated my blog for 2 weeks. really busy last week and this week. last week is more of meeting up with ppl and camp. this week i am having my attachment in kkh OT.

kkh OT
is not as cold as i expected and i think it is not as cold as other hospital. we wore the same OT attire as the staff there, just that we wore different colour shower cap.
the operations i saw are eg. Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair, termination of pregnancy (abortion), ectopic pregnancy and Cesarean section!!! the whole atmosphere will change when the baby is out and when you hear the baby crying:) at first everybody is really tensed, cos anything can happen during the op eg. baby stop breathing/ baby cannot come out....
so cesarean section is the best thing i saw in the OT. we also witnessed the birth of a twin, a baby boy and gal.
for the kids OT, we are allowed to go to the day surgery and not the major operating theaters. we saw cryptorchidism, circumcision, herniorrhapy, removal of port catheter and testosterone implantation.
i also got my posting for the final sem. i am posted to the kids high dependency ward for 3 months. A high dependency unit is an area for patients who require more intensive observation, treatment and nursing care than are usually provided on a general ward. It is a standard of care between the general ward and full intensive care. quite scary as it will be challenging:) after the 3 months posting is over, we will graduate and become a staff nurse. the posting is impt as most ppl will usually go back to that ward after they grad and work there and also if we don pass the posting we got to repeat it. will try out working in the ward for 3 months? if it is not wat i want maybe work in the OT/ A&E? during the 3 months, we will be doing shift work, so we might not be able to get off day on weekend. i might have to work on sat and sun! Argh!
last year, i am still able to go for cm camp, ypm camp and thanksgiving cos can just skip sch for a few hours (those not impt lesson) and we are also free at night. but now cannot le, got attachment and shift work:(

Friday night, went to meet my nursing friends+Halley:) we talk, talk and talk........ talked about attachment, my US trip, Singapore, sch.... went home very late, about 2 plus. next time it will be hard for us to meet. all of us different shift and then some morning shift the next day so cannot stay so late also:( sad sad. we got to think of something man!

sat, went to church at 11 plus. suppose to have lunch with the kids at 12pm, then change to 1.30, 2pm, 3pm and lastly 4pm! aiyo! went to eat pasta, had a great time together. hope that they also enjoyed the lunch:) went to YPM, sermon is about forgiveness. went for dinner and then home:) so happy to be back early:) we always reach home at 10 plus 11 on sat cos of rehearsal and stuff. lowell is playing drums tmr, i am freeeeeeeeeee.................. that's why i got time to update my blog:) hehe.
HOME SWEET HOME!

YEAH!!! I am back! so happy to be back in Singapore and to see my family and friends! at last i see them not in the screen but in front of me. miss them so much!
i am blogging at some weird timing. 6am in the morning. woke up at 4 plus and cannot get back to sleep:( symptom of jet lag i guess.

reached sin on Sunday morning, around 2am cos the flight is delayed. we survived the long hour flight:)unfortunately Meijiao lost her MP3 player in the plane. we suspect that somebody stole it:( don know if she is able to claim from the insurance company.

On sunday, went to church. did not go for CM and went for second service instead. too early and not able to wake up. I was early for 2nd service so went to visit my P6 class. Miss the kids too, so happy to see them:) so gald that they finished their PSLE and they look more relax now. ZQ, Lowell and Caleb also organised a surprise Birthday Celebration.
saw lots of familiar faces, quite a few ppl welcome me back even though is only a short 6 weeks trip. catch up with different ppl and also realised that there lots of events gg on. spiritual milk camp, children camp, thanksgiving, P6 outing, YpM camp. booths are set up and posters are pasted at different area. will not be gg for most of them as i will be having attachment during that period, so sad lor. that's the thing abt working shift and weekend:( but i will visit them at night? when i am free.
is so different when you are alone and so far away. when you are feeling down, there is nobody there. when you are enjoying and having fun, they are not able to experience it with you. Haizz, nvm, we shall go together next time:)
quite a few ppl also ask abt the financial crisis, they ask whether the Americans are affected, how are they reacting, and wat's the situation like there? honestly, they look normal, they don look depress.i think we are not there long enough and are unable to tell the differences. we hear lots of ppl there talking and discussing abt it and it is the headline almost everyday, that's all.
sunday night was family time:) mom prepared steamboat! haha. miss home cooked food the most and not hokkien mee, satay, prata, laska, mee siam..... then after dinner is the highlight of the night! SAB's happiest moment minus the time she see me in the airport i guess. UNPACKING LUGGAGE!
i bought quite a lot of things. i went with 1 luggage and was back with 2. bought quite a lot of things for my family:) i'm gald that they like the stuff i got for them. is quite easy to get things for sab and dajie. sab loves everything and dajie is very sui bian and also i know their sizes. but is not easy getting it for dad, i don know his size, got a hard time choosing and guessing his size.plus i've nv bought clothes for guys, including him
never really get anything for mum, cos she is quite picky (think i am like her) and she keep telling me not to get anything for her, she is afraid that i will get the wrong stuff and she she will not like it. that's why for mother's day/ BD we usually give her voucher. over the years we became smarter.
schedule for this week:
tues- jamming (so long since i touched the drumset) ( Aaron, thanks for organising it)
wed- badminton (really looking forward to it, been wanting to play for months) (Tiew, thanks for booking the court)
thurs- OIPP presentation discussion. thinking of meeting lisi after that. don know if she is free
fri- sun: spiritual milk camp. (*ahem, somebody is suppose to send me the details of the camp. i hope he is reading this, haha)
fri night: if i am able to leave camp will go meet up with nursing friends!!! so long nv see them liao, they having attachment:( JIA YOU!!!

now i shall blog about things that happened more than 2 weeks ago.
b4 leaving for the tour Dr. Muecke organised a brunch at Inn at Penn. she also invited Lisa, Kate and our lecturers.
the photos are abit blur.
lobby of Inn at Penn
Dr. Muecke giving out certificate. it is just a cert to say that we attended their programme for 4 weeks
with Geri (her secretary) and Ann Marie (Module coordinator)
after 4 weeks!
